Forward Film Production is a small and intimate award-winning independent documentary film production studio in Beirut, founded in 2000 by documentary filmmaker Carol Mansour.
We believe in the power of film-making and visual storytelling in bringing local and international attention to under-reported issues, aiming to inspire individuals, communities and societies to become agents and catalysts for change and innovation.
We do this through creating compelling documentaries and short films.
Our work reflects our concern for and commitment to playing our role as agents of change on issues of human rights and social justice, covering topics such as migrant domestic workers, refugees, environmental issues, mental health, prostitution and human trafficking, the rights of the disabled, war and memory, right to health, and child labor.
Our firm has grown and evolved to build strong creative and collaborative relationships with prominent agencies and organizations, the education sector, government agencies and private corporations and individuals.
Having a multi-disciplinary, multi-talented, and highly skilled team combining extensive experience with intensive research and fresh outlooks ensures that our treatment of issues is comprehensive, thorough and innovative all at once. We have collaborative relationships with top-level cinematographers, sound engineers, script-writers, editors, graphic artists, and music composers.
Our documentary films have screened far and wide, winning numerous prestigious international awards.
OUR TEAM
Carol Mansour
Director
Carol Mansour is an independent documentary film maker who is deeply passionate about Issues of social justice and human rights and believes that film has an important role to play in giving voice to the marginalized. After ten years of working in television, she founded Forward Film Production in 2000 in Beirut, Lebanon. With over 30 years in documentary production, Mansour has covered the world from Sri Lanka to Lebanon to Yemen to Uzbekistan. She has achieved international recognition and honor for her films, with over one hundred film festival screenings and official selections worldwide.
Muna Khalidi
Researcher/ Producer
With a Ph.D. in health policy and planning, and with more than 30 years’ experience working in the social and health development fields in Lebanon and the region, Muna Khalidi, has worked with various development and health organizations assisting them to develop strategic plans and to design and develop programs. In 2011 she started collaborating with Carol Mansour on the research and production of documentary films dealing with issues of social justice and human rights, bringing her experience in the academic, public, private, and NGO sectors into the documentary-making field.
