NAME: Men on Hold – لا شغلة ولا عملة
“Men on Hold” explores the psychological and societal effects of war and displacement on refugee men from Syria, as they impact the individual, the family, and the community. The film examines issues that have so far gone neglected.
Refugee men are finding themselves under extreme stress as they have had to forego their traditional roles as “providers” and “protectors” of their families, often leaving them with feelings of helplessness and disempowerment as they find themselves forcibly unproductive, having nothing to do all day long.
